I Live Here

Rosa Parks Blvd as well as the people that live and work in North Nashville inspired the exhibit titled “I Live Here.” The piece is painted on a door that was torn out of a refurbished North Nashville home. The famous Batman building peeks through the skyline, but the focus is on The Werthan Lofts and the Cheatham Place Public Housing Development. Rosa Parks divides the two properties, but there is far more than a street that divides the residents.

The disparity in wealth and opportunity that coexist in such close proximity is unparalleled. The growth and development of the neighborhood begs the question, how long can these two groups of people coexist?

My hope is that the city that I grew up in can be creative and progressive not only in growth, but in creating space for current residents.
